Staying fit and healthy when you’re pregnant is one of the best things you can do for yourself and your baby. When pregnant it’s important to keep moving. Exercise can help you stay in shape, give you more energy, have less back pain and prepare you for labor.

Walking is a great exercise for beginners. It provides you with a reasonable aerobic conditioning with minimal stress on your joints.

Swimming – being in water gives you a better range of motion without putting pressure on your joints in, it also reduce back pain. Why not try aqua aerobics it’s promotes strength and flexibility, and it is great cardio exercise too.

Pregnancy is a perfect time for you to start yoga if you have never tried it before. Yoga calms your mind and body providing the physical and emotional stress relief your body needs throughout pregnancy. It decreases lower back pain and increases the strength and flexibility of your muscles that is needed for childbirth.

Cycling will help you keep you fit and supple, which should help you cope with any aches or pains from carrying extra weight. As your pregnancy progresses you may feel unstable on a regular bicycle this is because your center of gravity changing, you can change to a stationary bike.

Avoid lifting heavy weights. Remember exercise burns calories, so make sure to eat well to help nourish and strengthen your body.
