Third Trimester (29 – 40 weeks)

Now that you are in your finally trimester, the end is in sight and soon your baby will arrive. So use these last few weeks to get ready for your baby and enjoy some time for yourself. This stage of the pregnancy can be physically and emotionally challenging. This is the time to ensure that you have prepared your home for your baby’s arrival.

Here is a list of some of the symptoms you may find: –

  • Backache – the extra weight you have gained is putting added pressure on your back
  • Fatigue (extreme tiredness)
  • Need the toilet more often this is because your baby is putting pressure on your bladder
  • Heartburn as now your uterus has taken up most of your abdominal cavity, pushing your stomach up towards your throat
  • Breathlessness, as your uterus starts to grow it crowds the lungs, making it harder for air to flow in and out
  • Swollen feet and legs is caused by fluid retention in the lower half of the body
  • Braxton-Hicks contractions happens, when the muscles of the uterus tighten for approximately 30 to 60 seconds, and sometimes can last as long as two minutes
  • Sleeping difficulties because of your increasing size
  • Varicose veins can appear in later pregnancy as the growing uterus exerts pressure on the veins in the legs
  • Eat more you will need about 450 extra calories a day
